It feels like we’ve jumped in a time machine and gone back 10 years as Karim Benzema is being linked with Arsenal.
The Gunners were linked with Benzema throughout the early 2010s, and now, 10 years on, the north London club are again being linked with a move for the Frenchman.
Arsenal need a striker through the door who can find the back of the net on a regular basis, and Benzema certainly ticks that box.
Arsenal are said to be keen on Benzema, and it sounds as though the Frenchman could depart in the near future.
Speaking on the Men in Blazers Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Benzema’s situation, and he says that the attacker is far from happy at Al-Ittihad, claiming that the striker is actually training alone at the moment.
Benzema is training alone
Romano shared what he knows about the ‘unbelievable’ attacker.
“Karim returned to training with Al-Ittihad, he’s regularly training now with the squad but not with the rest of the group, he’s training by himself I am told, he’s training alone, it is a very tense situation between Benzema, people at the club, the manager, they are not happy at all with the current situation,” Romano said.
Needs a move
There’s very rarely any coming back from a situation like this.
Benzema looks like he’s completely fallen out with his current club, and when that happens, it usually spells the end of a player at any given club.
Of course, whether or not Arsenal make a move for Benzema remains to be seen, but the fact of the matter is that the player himself does need a move before the January window closes.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on right up until deadline day as it looks as though Benzema is very unhappy at the moment.
