Mikel Arteta has been singing the praises of some of his Arsenal players this afternoon and had a special word for Martin Odegaard.
The Arsenal captain looks like he is back to somewhere near his best and he had a big influence on the game against Liverpool last weekend.
The Norwegian will now be hoping to kick on against an inconsistent West Ham side and hope to be the difference maker from midfield once more.
And speaking to the press about Odegaard, Mikel Arteta had nothing but praise for his skipper, insisting he’s getting even better by the week.
Mikel Arteta praises Martin Odegaard
Speaking to the press today ahead of the clash with West Ham, Arteta admitted to being delighted with what he’s seeing from Odegaard this season.
“His overall performances and aggression without the ball every time we get to certain areas, you see the skills that he’s developing day in, day out. He’s always available and having a great season,” Arteta said.
A £30m bargain
It’s quite remarkable when you think Arsenal did only pay £30m for Martin Odegaard to sign him from Real Madrid.
Looking back, Madrid must be wondering why they sanctioned such a deal and Arsenal are now reaping the rewards.
Odegaard has got better with each season and as Arteta suggests here, he seems to be improving all the time.
Arteta will see Odegaard close up every day and that includes the off field stuff as well, which is so important as a captain.
For Arsenal to win something this season or be successful, having Odegaard fit and firing is absolutely crucial to their task.
At the moment, he is standing up and being counted and right now, there’s few better in the world at what he brings to a midfield three.
Arsenal, then, are lucky to have him and know full well that they must start winning soon to keep such players around.
