Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Gabriel Martinelli for his attitude in training and on the pitch.

The Gunners boss, speaking at his pre-match press conference, says the 22-year-old is usually “not satisfied” and always “wants more” from himself.

Martinelli has enjoyed a great rise to the top of the game since joining Arsenal from Brazilian outfit Ituano for just £6million in 2019.

He was especially outstanding last season, with 15 goals and five assists across 36 league games helping Arsenal fight for the title.

Martinelli has struggled at times this season, but since the January break, he has looked a lot brighter and has three goals from his last three games.

Up next for Arsenal is a trip to West Ham United on Sunday, and the Brazil international is likely to start in the match.

The Gunners media team asked Arteta about Martinelli’s potential, and he replied: “He wants more, he’s not satisfied.

“He’s not satisfied when he does really well, he’s not satisfied when you put him on the bench!

“He’s not satisfied after every training session, so only good things are going to happen with him.”

Arsenal have well and truly struck gold with Gabriel Martinelli

It’s baffling to think that Martinelli cost Arsenal a mere £6million. The £200,000-a-week star (Salarysport) has really gone from strength to strength in red and white.

And at such a young age, it’s exciting to think how much better he can become over the coming years. He really does look like a superstar in the making.

Martinelli penned a new Arsenal contract just a year ago, one of many top players who have committed their futures to the Gunners over the past 12 months or so.

This shows what a great squad Arteta is not only putting together, but also retaining, which is key if you want to build a team worthy of silverware.
