Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Serbian international Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who could depart Saudi Arabia.
The former Lazio midfielder was one of the many big-name players to make the move to the Middle East in the summer, with Milinkovic-Savic joining Neymar, Ruben Neves and Aleksandar Mitrovic at Al-Hilal.
However, like Jordan Henderson and Karim Benzema, Milinkovic-Savic reportedly wants out, with Arsenal now linked with a move for the 28-year-old midfield superstar.
According to TuttoJuve, the Gunners are interested in bringing the Serbian back to Europe, with Juventus also chasing the former Serie A dynamo.
Once praised by Lazio president Claudio Lotitio as ‘one of the best midfielders in the world’, Milinkovic-Savic would be quite the signing for Arsenal if the north London can arrange a deal.
However, given how recently Milinkovic-Savic made the move to Saudi Arabia and how high the midfielder’s wages are, the odds of Arsenal actually signing the Al-Hilal man sit at close to zero.
Arsenal need major sales if they’re to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Arsenal’s financial situation has been pretty transparent all January; if the Gunners want to spend, they first have to sell.
And with a week left remaining in the window, the chances of Arsenal getting a major sale at this stage in the window look slim, which means any move for Milinkovic-Savic could already be off.
Indeed, the Serbian is one of the best paid-players on the planet as well as one of the best midfielders in football despite playing the last six months in Saudi Arabia.
And although Milinkovic-Savic could be a dream short-term addition for Arsenal, the finances simply don’t make any sense for the Gunners, who would need to sell two or even three players.
