Gary Lineker has sung the praises of Arsenal attacking midfielder Bukayo Saka after a report of his charity work in Nigeria was shared by the official Premier League account on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
His support of children’s medical charity Big Shoe has helped fund 120 life-changing operations in the Northern Nigerian state of Kano, and one of the doctors in charge sent him a letter of appreciation.
The Premier League posted an emotional video highlighting the massive charity work being sponsored by the Arsenal star, and Lineker was left impressed, reacting on X thus:
Saka represents his country of birth at international level, but he never hesitates to remind everyone how much he loves his country of origin.
The Gunners academy graduate first teamed up with charity organisation BigShoe in 2022, sponsoring the surgeries which took place in October 2022.
Some of the Nigerian kids were suffering from diseases such as inguinal hernias, umbilical hernias and brain tumours, and the intervention of Saka has helped save their lives.
Giving back to struggling children in Nigeria shows how lovely the Arsenal star is, and the kids and their parents/guardians will be forever grateful to the youngster for the huge help he has rendered.
Saka will be inspired to do much more charitable work going forward, and his teammates and other footballers could learn a thing or two from him by giving back to society.
Top-flight stars earn a fortune, and while it is solely up to them how they spend their money, seeing the likes of the Gunners ace decide to lend a helping hand to helpless folks speaks volumes.
